A never ending wonder, the Yucatan.

mini butterflies

This article has nothing to do with construction, building , renos or the like. It is simply a commentary on the Yucatan and its parade of never ending wonders. This afternoon there must have been a hatch of small butterflies and I mean small. They were the size of a 10 peso coin or for those not here, a large quarter. But what they lacked in size they made up for in volume and I would not be exaggerating if I said millions. They covered the area from Progreso to Chelem so 3 or 4 kilometers at least. They were a really pretty dark blackish brown, with orange markings. But the strange part about the colouring was  there was the odd totally yellow one, flying with them. Cousins perhaps, I don’t know, but it was something I might never see again. The Yucatan is full of new to me marvels. Butterfly migrations, crab migrations over the roads, a swarm of bees stopping by my pool to rest and then move on, iridescent blue green bees and gorgeous red/blue tarantulas. Everyday brings a new wonder, in the Yucatan and tomorrow is a new day.
